Church History
Bible Way Church of Saluda History

The Bible Way Church of Saluda began in the late 1950’s as a prayer service in the home of Elder Johnnie Bush, Sr. and his wife Mother Alice Bush. As the ministry grew, the worshippers moved into a small building in Edgefield County they called the “Prayer House.”

In 1964, Elder Bush traveled to Washington, D.C. where he was introduced to the Bible Way Family. When he returned to South Carolina, District Elder Willie Spann and Minister A.C. Jackson from the South Carolina Diocese came to assist Elder Bush in getting established in the Bible Way Organization.

Mrs. Montrue Clark donated one acre of land in Saluda County for a church building. There the Bible Way Church of Saluda was built. The church was dedicated on the first Sunday in December, 1966. We worshipped in the building in Saluda for 13 years and witnessed the move of God.

In 1978, we remodeled an old church building at another site. The LORD blessed Elder Bush along with friends and family to labor nonstop on the renovation of the church. It was completed and dedicated on the fourth Sunday in February, 1980.
In January of 1993, God called District Elder Bush to his eternal rest. He fought a good fight. He finished his course. He kept the faith. He was ready for his crown. Mother Bush worked faithfully until God called her home in February of 2009. She was ready to receive her crown.

We have been blessed with men of God to carry on the ministry. We thank God for our Pastor and First Lady, Elder Theadore and Lady Bernette Collins who continues for last nine plus years to carry on the work of the Lord.
